Mona Lisa Touch: The History of a
Game Changing Treatment
CO2 LASER WAS DEVELOPED IN 1964 AND ITS APPLICATIONS IN MEDICINE ARE EXTENSIVE!!!
Why might CO2 laser work for me?
CO2 laser ablates and vaporizes soft tissue with precision and minimal collateral tissue damage. When the laser comes in contact with the skin (dermal or mucosal), it causes small micro-columns of burns that are barely visible to the naked eye. This stimulates the body to form collagen, elastin and fibrin to "fix" the tissue. In doing so, the old skin sloughs off and new skin regenerates. Dermatologists have been using these lasers on the face to erase years of sun damage, acne scars and discolorations. In Gynecology, we have been using this laser to remove pre-cancerous lesions and warts on the cervix, vagina and vaginal wall. The cosmetic result with the laser is much better than scars created by excising the tissue.
How can CO2 laser help with painful intercourse or vaginal dryness?
The answer is very simple. When the laser ablates/vaporizes the vaginal wall and vulva, it stimulates new tissue growth which thickens the mucosa making it less fragile and more elastic hence less tissue cuts and breaks caused by intercourse without lubrication.
